NAMB Certification: Point Qualification Audit Record
The National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) has developed two certification programs to recognize mortage professionals who have attained the highest levels of expertise: The Certified Mortgage Consultant (CMC) and the Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS) programs. An applicant must earn a minimum of 100 evaluation points based on points obtained within the following five categories to be eligible for candidate status. Categories and maximum points allowed within each are:

CATEGORY I: - EXPERIENCE
75 Maximum Point Credit
An applicant may receive points within two categories. Points available are summarized below.
- MORTGAGE BUSINESS Maximum 75
10 points for each year for the first 5 years on the job
5 points for each year after the first 5 years on the job
Qualifying occupants are:
Mortgage Broker; Mortgage Banker; Mortgage Underwriter; Loan Officer
- RELATED BUSINESS AREA Maximum 60
8 points for each year, for the first 5 years of experience
4 points for each year after the first 5 years of experience
Qualifying occupants are:
Real Estate Broker; Real Estate Salesperson; Real Estate Appraiser; Commercial Banker; Savings & Loan Officer; Executive Officer of a Real Estate Lender
CATEGORY II: - EDUCATION
- 30 Maximum Point Credit
Applicants can earn points for both undergraduate and graduate degrees from fully accredited schools. Points available are summarized below.
Bachelors Degree (4 year degree) 20
Masters Degree 10
CATEGORY III: - PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS
- 15 Maximum Point Credit
Applicants can earn points for holding other professional designations. The number of points allowable varies with the type of designation. Points available are summarized below.
ASA, CMB, CCIM, CMU, CPM, MAI, SREA 15, SMC (CRMS), CPA, CRB, CRMU, CMU, ARU, SRA, CLO 10, CRS, SCA, GRI, GSA 5
CATEGORY IV: - EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
- 30 Maximum Point Credit
Applicants can earn points for completing courses, seminars/workshops sponsored by NAMB, and/or other industry related organizations. The number of points is calculated based on multiplying a given number of points by the number of days attended. Points available are summarized below.

CATEGORY V: - LEADERSHIP & PARTICIPATION
- 15 Maximum Point Credit
Applicants can earn points for holding leadership positions in NAMB and NAMB affiliated associations. The number of points allowable varies with the position held. Points may also be awarded for publishing articles related to the mortgage industry. Points available are summarized below.
